AP Statistics is a difficult course that is becoming more popular each year. Students going into the medical, legal, and business fields (among others) will need a good foundation of statistics. Similar courses are regular statistics and FTS, which stands for functions, statistics, and trigonometry.

This course can be taken instead of precalculus or calculus AP. Our network also has tutors for precalculus and calculus AP, as well as Palos Verdes and Torrance tutors for algebra and geometry.

I've been tutoring math and other subjects in the PV area for 12 years and have taught a variety of subjects. I have found that statistics is one of the most difficult courses, but that once explained the student can make great progress. I am constantly developing new and better ways to make it understandable to students, thus minimizing their study time required to understand the concepts. I also have the books used in the local schools. This is important as one statstics course can vary from another depending on what kind of test the teacher devises, what number she assigns for homework, and the difficulty level of the homework and tests. A specific example of this is that some teachers will allow students to use the calculator to solve virtually all of the problems. Other teachers prefer the students to learn the "by hand" method in addition to the calculator method.
